BETSY

Betsy is a 9 month old purebred Wheaten. She was 3 months
old when she came into rescue. Betsy has the exact same story
as Hazel. She was born in a puppymill and taken to be sold in a
petstore in New York. But, after her arrival, it was discovered
that she had a problem dribbling urine. Without doing any tests
at all, she was diagnosed as having a condition called 'etopic
ureter' and was sent to a animal clinic with orders to put her to
sleep. Thankfully for little Betsy, just like Hazel, the same tech
at the clinic contacted S'Wheat Rescues and asked us to take
her into rescue which, of course, we did

Betsy was flown to Kansas City from New York on 1/16/03.

Betsy was seen by a specialist and it was determined that her
problem was not a etopic ureter. Her bladder is small and is in
the wrong position - high up in her pelvis instead of in her
abdomen as it should be. This results in a short ureter. The
specialist recommended that we maintain her on drugs to help
lessen her problem as the surgery they could try to physically
move the bladder has a very low success rate.

Betsy is now on the drugs and her dribbling is under control.
She generally only has a problem if her bladder is allowed to
get too full or if she gets overly excited. It is not a constant
dribbling.

Betsy is now ready to move on to a forever home. She is an
extremely sweet, outgoing and loving Wheaten girl. She gets
along well with all other dogs and will make a wonderful
addition to the right home.

Betsy is currently located in the Kansas City, MO area
