Oliver Twist

OLIVER

Oliver is an approximately 1.5 year old male Wheatable. He
was a stray that was in a local shelter so nothing is known
about his prior life or owners. My guess is he was a stray for
awhile judging by his coat.

Oliver is a sweet, sweet boy. He loves to give kisses, knows
how to shake and likes to talk to you. He is starved for love
and attention and loves people.

Oliver's coat was in bad condition coming out of the shelter.
Lots of matting, debris and filth in his coat which you can
see in the pictures at the bottom of the page. I cannot
begin to explain to you how bad this dog smelled. Even with
the car windows down my eyes were watering so badly I
could barely drive.

Our first stop was at Petco where I used one of the bathing
tubs in their grooming department. He was very good about
taking a bath. Even though he had to be completely soaped
up and rinsed 4 times before the water stopped running off
him nearly black. I also cut out the majority of the matts in
his coat.

Oliver is neutered and up to date on shots and is located in
Kansas City, MO.

1/04 UPDATE

Oliver was adopted out and then abused by the adopter and
is still recovering from that trauma. He is now distrustful of
strangers. We will not consider any homes with children
under 14 years of ago and there will be no long distance
adoptions considered for this dog. He will need to meet his
adopters and get to know them slowly so he can learn to
trust them and not feel as if he will be hurt again and that
would be impossible with someone living far away.

April 2004 Update

Oliver is doing very, very well. He has come a long way in
the last few months. He had a trip to the groomer right
before the Wheaten Meetin' and she reported he was an
angel for her. He went to both days of the Meetin' in a room
full of strange people and dogs and did very well. He was
friendly and outgoing with eveyone there. We are very
encouraged by his progress and will be looking to place him
in a quiet home with good people very soon.
