| SKIPPER Skipper is a 3 year old purebred male Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier He was turned into rescue by his owners because he was barking. Why was he barking? Because he was having to live an awful life, outside in the cold, the wet and whatever the weather was. He was not allowed indoors and he was miserable and letting everyone know about it. When Skipper was picked up the weather here has been very cold and wet for weeks. As you can see in the picture he is a filthy mess. Skipper was also being kept in an electric fence. We are constantly challenged on the reasons why we do not allow the use of these fences. Please take a look at the picture of the wound that we found on his neck when he was inspected and bathed after getting into rescue. This poor boy has been constantly shocked and burned for who knows how long, he has raised patches on his neck from burns that have healed over and then been reburned from the probes on the electric collar that he had been wearing. Despite the awful time he has had, Skipper is unfailing happy and friendly. Giving kisses and the Wheaten greetin' with no hesitation. His little tail wags a mile a minute. He stood with absolutely no protest while he was washed down 4 times to try and get the dirt out of him and stood like a trooper while the matted fur was cut away from the wound on his neck and it was cleaned. The smell when the fur was cut away was absolutely horrible and we know that it had to be very painful for him. These pictures were took right after he was picked up and was still a muddy, wet mess. He has a lot of matting and will go to the groomer in a few days after his neck wound has a bit of time to heal. We will post more pictures of him after he has been groomed so please check back. He has been fine with all the other dogs in his foster home. His previous owners said he was aggressive with cats. He has been with children with no problems. Skipper is a really great dog with a wonderful disposition to have lived through what has happened to him and come through it with a smile on his face. He is neutered and up to date on shots. APRIL 2004 - A FOREVER HOME! Skipper has been adopted by Joan and George Brown of Kansas CONGRATULATIONS! |
