Cubby

Cubby is a 3 year old purebred male
Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier

He is a owner turn-in, below is part of
the email about him:

I have had Cubby since he was one
years old. I took him in because his
original owner just divorced and didn't
have time to devote to him. Cubby
spent most of his first year outdoors
leashed to a tree with little attention. At
night when he was let in the house he
would act wildly with his stored up
energy. His owner couldn't handle it.

When we took Cubby in I trained him
the best I could with 4 kids of my own.
He never had any formal training.
Cubby uses his mouth to show
excitement and affection. He is rough
but very playful. He is housebroken and
is never a problem when brought to the
groomer, doctor or kennel. Cubby is
allowed to roam free in the house. At
night he sleeps downstairs on his dog
bed. He loves to go for rides in the car
and long walks. He gets excited when
he sees other dogs when he's out
walking. He will pull to go see them. He
has played with a few with no problems
but hasn't been to a dog run.

Cubby plays a little too rough
sometimes with the kids. He has nipped
them on occasion while chasing after
them in fun. Although it is never mean
spirited his rough play has sometimes
resulted in bruises or scratches. I have
too many children in and out all day and
I'm afraid he might get too excited and
hurt someone else's child. This is my
main reason for giving him up.

I spoke to a vet who knows Cubby and
he feels that Cubby has a good
temperament and is trainable.

Cubby has unfortunately had one biting
incident. Last summer he was running
and barking in the front yard when a
woman stuck her hand over the fence
to pet him. He bit her on the hand.

Cubby will make a loving pet. I
recommend a home that can provide
proper training, a yard to run in and
someone to give him a lot of love and
attention. Cubby will be missed deeply.

Cubby is neutered and up to date on
shots.
