| GINGER Ginger is an approx. 1 yr. old female Wheatable. Ginger was in a high kill shelter and in danger of being euthanized when we found out about her. Luckily a member of our Adoption Group was able to make an immediate trip to the shelter and she was taken to safety, She has had a bath and brushing and as you can see looks 100% better. Nothing is known about her background so we will be getting her into the vet to check and see if she has been spayed, if not she will be and she will get her shots as well. From her foster mom: "She is incredibly happy in a calm sweet way. She has not barked although my two dogs have barked at her. When it was dinner time, she promptly sat down waiting for her food. She walks pretty well on a leash. I have to coax her into the crate but she settles right in once she is there." Ginger is located in the Atlanta, GA area. August 24 Update Ginger went in to see the vet today. She weighed in at a healthy 45 lbs. The vet estimated she is around 2 years of age. She tested negative for heartworms and was given an overall good health report. Ginger received her shots today and will go in to the groomer tomorrow. She will most likely have to be shaved down but the groomer has been instructed to preserve a Wheaten head cut. We will have some new pictures of her online after she is groomed. No previous spay scar could be found in her exam today so she is scheduled to be spayed on Monday. This girl is going to go fast so if you are interested in adopting her get your application in ASAP. 8/27 Update These new pictures show what a beautiful girl Ginger has become after some good care and grooming! Ginger was scheduled to be spayed on Monday but unfortunately has come into heat. We knew this was going way to smoothly! The spay will have to be put off for the next several weeks until the heat cycle ends. Her foster family is being super careful to make sure that she is not exposed to any unneutered male dogs during this time. Ginger was exposed to cats yesterday and showed no interest in them so we believe she can safely go to a home with cats although caution is always advised. We will update this page when Ginger's spay has been completed but feel free to fill out adoption applications in the meantime. March 2006 - A FOREVER HOME! Ginger has been adopted by Leah Miller of Florida CONGRATULATIONS! |
