Maggie

Maggie is a purebred female Soft Coated
Wheaten Terrier. Her DOB is 7/11/03

Maggie was turned into an animal shelter by
her owners and the shelter contacted us
and asked us to take her into rescue.

The reason given is that she does not like
groomers or vets and will nip at them and
gets excited and barks when strangers are
in her home.

On her surrender form they wrote:

"Maggie gets along with children, cats and
other dogs. She likes to sleep with you. She
knows how to sit, lay down, come when she
wants to, say "kennel" and she will go right
in. Say "house" to get her in the house. She
loves to give Wheaten kisses!"

March Update

Maggie's foster mom has been working with
Maggie to overcome her fear of strangers
and of having her head messed with which
results in some aggressive behavior.

Maggie is going to the groomer for short
sessions very regularly to work on
desensitizing her in these areas.

She has come a long way but will need a
owner who is aware of her issues and is
willing to continue working with her to
modify her behaviors and to keep her out of
situations that cause the behaviors.

Due to her issues we will not consider a
home that has children under 16 for this
dog.

Obedience training will be a condition of
adoption with Maggie as well.

Update

Maggie has improved greatly in the last
little while. She is not afraid of strangers,
just the opposite. I have had several people
over this past summer and she would get
excited to meet them. The wheaten greetin
thing. She has become less food
aggressive and when giving her treats she
is very dainty in taking them. She loves to
snuggle with you at bedtime and give lots of
kisses. She still does not like the UPS or
mail truck or any loud sounding vehicle. I
need to vacuum more to break her of
chasing the vacuum. :) Over all she is a
sweet girl. She follows and respects
Dickens and Glenda. She knows several
commands and always comes when I call
her. She has never had an accident in the
house. We are going back to the groomer
since she is shaved down and start over
again. I will let you know how that
progresses. I am now able to mess with her
face without any incident, mess with her
eyes and ears. She has come a long way.
She plays rough with my cats which I don't
like.

She is spayed, up to date on shots and is
located in Little Chute, WI
