Yes, you are right, this is NOT a
Wheaten or a Wheatable!

Reese is a 1 year old purebred male
Pomeranian.

So, how does a Pom end up in a
Wheaten rescue? I am a member of
many Freecycle Groups in the area.
Most do not allow live animals to be
given away but one does. When I saw a
message go out from someone wanting
to give this boy away I immediately
offered to take him for a couple of
reasons. One, small dogs are often
"adopted" from unsuspecting people
and used as bait in dog fighting rings.
They can also be picked up by bunchers
who sell them to labs to be used in
research. Also, since this boy was not
yet neutered he could by taken by a
backyard breeder or puppymiller and
used to breed. And, of course, I have a
soft spot for Poms after our experience
with
Snickers a few years ago.

Something is a little fishy with the
people who gave him up. This is the 2nd
dog in as many days that I have seen
them put a dog out on Freecycle. The
reason they gave for giving this one up
was he barked too much when they kept
him outside and the neighbors
complained.  A mother and several
children met me to pick him up. Not one
of them seemed upset in the least or
even said goodbye to the little guy. The
kids acted like this was a everyday
occurance and they simply stuck his
crate in my car and walked away. They
never asked me one single question
about why I wanted him, what I was
going to do with him, etc. They
obviously did not care about him in the
least.

Reese is a lot better off being away from
these people and he will get a family
that loves and treasures him as he
should be.

He is a sweet little Pom, likes to give
kisses and is getting along with the
other dogs fine.

Reese is neutered and up to date on
shots.
